Day 4: Live Like Home Is Real

Many people who return from the brink of death describe a tension they can’t shake. They are grateful to be alive, but they also feel homesick for a reality that felt more solid than this one. Ordinary life can feel strangely thin afterward. The pull of eternity becomes stronger, and the appetite for shallow living weakens.

You may not have had that kind of moment, but you can still live with the same tension in a holy way. As a follower of Jesus, you belong to heaven even while your feet are on earth. That means you do not have to be driven by panic, approval, or comfort. Your life has a direction. Your choices are shaping a soul that will outlast your body.

Living with eternity in view does not make you less present here. It makes you more purposeful here. You begin to notice how much of your day is spent on things that cannot hold your heart. You feel the quiet invitation to forgive sooner, to pray more honestly, to serve without needing credit, to obey when it costs you something. You stop treating holiness as optional and love as a mood. You start seeing both as preparation for home.

Jesus does not call you to escape the world. He calls you to carry His kingdom into it. Your life has weight, even when it looks ordinary. If eternity is real, then obedience is not a burden. It is alignment. Today, you can take one step that says, “My treasure is with You.” That step may be quiet, but heaven will not miss it.

• Where do you feel “homesick” for something deeper than this world can offer?
• What temporary things have been competing for your heart lately?
• What would living with eternity in view change about how you spend your time this week?
• What is one specific act of obedience you sense God asking you to stop postponing?

Prayer:

Father, set my heart on what lasts. Help me live with eternity in view without becoming distracted or numb. Give me courage to obey, grace to forgive, and a steady desire to be close to You. Amen.
