DAY 1: Made for More
Have you ever looked back at old photos and thought to yourself, “Who is that?” We’re shocked, probably embarrassed at how we used to look, maybe our outfit because it’s no longer trendy, we no longer look that way, dress that way.
Jesus speaks to a crowd in Matthew 5 and says that they are “the light of the world–like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden.” As followers of Christ, we’ve left our old ways of sin and shame behind and Jesus calls us to be lights to the world around us. We’re filled with God’s love, not the things from our past or our life before our Jesus. If we want to shine our light, we have to know who we are in Christ first.
When we know who we are, we point people back to the One who made us.
Reflection: Reflect inward and ask God to remind you who you are in Him and what His plan and purpose is for your life.
Question: What areas of my life do I need to lay down my past (insecurity, shame, mistakes) and pick up God’s purposes (confidence, peace)?
