Iron Sharpens IronSample

DAY 2: Friction and Friendship
Many of us have heard the phrase, “Show me your friends and I’ll show you your future” before. The people you choose to surround yourself with will determine who you will become, whether we realize it or not; the choices we make, the music we listen to, the conversations we’re in.
In Proverbs 27:17, the word “sharpen” means to improve or develop. Improvement is not always easy and often challenges us. Think about your current 5 closest friends. Would you consider these friendships making you into a better version of yourself? Do they challenge you in your faith? Are any of them the kind that’ll pray for you when you walk through difficulty?
These kinds of friendships take energy, effort, and intention. Iron doesn’t sharpen iron by accident. It’s a deliberate act. If you want to be sharp, you have to be intentional about it.
Reflection: Pray and ask God who He wants you to become and how to get there.
Question: Are the people closest to you leading you away or pushing you closer to the person God is calling you to be?
About this Plan

“As iron sharpens iron, so a friend sharpens a friend.” -Proverbs 27:17. In this 3 day plan, we’ll discover how as believers our friendships and relationships are meant to strengthen one another and bring the love of Christ to the world around us.
