The Gift is Life

God has given you a gift. The Bible says the gift of God is eternal life. This is not something you wait to enjoy after you die. It is something that lives and works in you right now. It is the privilege to have domiciled in you God's own very kind of life. This gift helps you, assists you, and keeps you free.

Romans 6:23 (NKJV)
For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Many of us are excited about what Jesus delivered us from. We celebrate freedom from sin, darkness, and judgment. That is good. But our greater excitement should be in what He delivered to us. Salvation is not just deliverance. Salvation is deliverance and impartation. Something was taken away. Something was given. Whilst we rejoice over what has been taken away, the bigger news is not where we left. The bigger news is where we were taken to. God's best for you is not where He delivered you from. God's best for you is where He delivered you to.

Imagine if God delivered you from death but did not deliver you into life. Imagine spending your whole existence on the fence. Neither here nor there. That is not what God did. He took you out of death and brought you into life. You are no longer a citizen of that old side. You are now here. And so you no longer operate in death.

Think about it. The all knowing, all powerful, ever present God decided to package a gift and send it to you. If He who is this God thinks it important to give you a gift, then it is wisdom on your part to receive it, understand it, and let it lead your life. The gift of God is eternal life. And you have it now.

3. How can you let this gift lead your life today and not just someday?

Prayer

Father, thank You for the gift of eternal life through Jesus. I receive it fully today. Help me to understand this gift and let it rule my everyday life. Teach me to live from this life and not from my own strength. In Jesus' name, Amen.
