Unwrapping the Gift

You have received a gift from God. But receiving a gift is not the same as enjoying it. The vast majority of us have not yet succeeded at unwrapping that gift. At best we have been looking at the box. We have begun to perceive what the shape and size may be. But we have not really experienced the magnitude of possibilities and potentials that are present in this gift.

Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift!

The Bible calls it an indescribable gift. It is so robust, so full, so powerful that words cannot fully capture it. And yet many of us live ordinary lives while carrying an extraordinary gift. There is a disconnect. But the disconnect is not in the nature of the gift. The disconnect is in our failure to really understand what we have received.

Think of it like this. A man is given a field. He is told that in that field are precious stones. But instead of digging, he spends his time doing other things. Other people around him do the same. They have fields too but they never dig. Here is the truth. It is not the precious stones hidden deep in the earth that can profit you. It is the precious stones that have been unearthed and brought to the surface that can be of value to you. It is time to dig. It is time to discover what you carry.

Jesus said to the woman at the well, if you knew the gift of God. That is the issue. We do not know. We have not given time to discover. Your prayer time should be more about Lord, let this gift have true expression in my days. Your study time should be about discovering the purposes and the intent for which God gave you this gift. Until you begin to unwrap it, you will not walk in the true value of what you have received.

The gift is not just for heaven. It is for now. It is meant to be expressed, experienced, and enjoyed in your everyday life. Do not just hold the box. Open it. Discover what is inside. Let it change everything about how you live.

Prayer:

Father, thank You for this indescribable gift. I do not want to just hold the box. I want to unwrap it. Open my eyes to see what You have placed inside me. Help me to discover, experience, and walk in the fullness of this gift every day. In Jesus' name, Amen.
