Living Through Him

God did not give you eternal life for you to enjoy when you get to heaven. He gave you eternal life so that here on earth you may live the way God would live if He were in your position. This life is meant to govern your walk. It is meant to lead your steps. It is meant to be the source of everything about you.

1 John 4:9 (NKJV)
In this the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him.

Think about a cardiac pacemaker. When a person has problems with their heart, doctors can give them a pacemaker. The pacemaker takes over the job of making the heart beat. It sends the signals. It controls the rhythm. The heart now performs based on what the pacemaker generates. The behavior of the heart is dictated by the pacemaker.

This is what happens when you receive Jesus. Eternal life becomes your pacemaker. The behavior of your life, the outcomes, the direction, the purpose, and the pursuit of your life are now determined by the life you carry. It is no longer you running on your own. There is something inside you that drives everything. Your attitudes, your appetites, your decisions. All driven by the life of Christ in you.

This is what the love of God really is. That you and I should live through Christ. Everything about our lives should be because of Him, through Him, by Him. He becomes the source of the things that make up our lives. Not your own effort. Not your own wisdom. Not your own strength. But Him.

Eternal life is the determinant, the designer, and the driver of your journey. It determines how things shall be. It designs how it shall happen. And it drives you towards it. You are not left alone to figure things out. You are not left to struggle with your own ideas. The life of God in you takes the lead. You follow. You yield. You cooperate. And you watch Him do what only He can do.

This is the life you have been given. Not a life you live by yourself. But a life you live through Him. Let Him lead. Let Him drive. Let Him determine how your days unfold. You carry something powerful inside you. Let it do what it was given to do.

Prayer

Father, thank You for giving me life to live through You. I do not want to run on my own anymore. Let Your life determine my steps. Let it design my journey. Let it drive me towards Your purpose. I yield to You completely. In Jesus' name, Amen.
