Who Am I?

DAY 3 OF 10

How Heaven Sees Us

Heaven does not look at us the way the world looks at us. Instead, it views all of humanity through a different lens called 'Salvation.’ From this salvation perspective, heaven classifies humanity into the following three categories:

1)The saved

2)The unsaved Gentiles

3)The unsaved Jews

The Bible presents three figures to represent these three divisions: Jesus for the saved, Adam for the unsaved Gentiles, and Abraham for the unsaved Jews.

Let's examine a few Bible verses that support this:

·For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ all shall be made alive. (1 Corinthians 15:22 NKJV)

·And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed. (Genesis 12:3 NKJV)

The phrases “in Adam,” “in Jesus,” and “in you” highlight the representative roles of these figures. Such terminology appears throughout the Bible.

We know that a 'representative’ embodies the group they represent. Their words and actions are regarded as those of the entire group. Any honour or authority they receive extends to the whole group they represent.

For example, when a Prime Minister visits a foreign nation, he represents both his country and its people. The reception he receives there is seen as a gesture towards his entire country. His speech is understood to reflect the thoughts and sentiments of his people.

This principle is also reflected in the Bible. Because Adam sinned, all his descendants are considered sinners. Because Abraham was blessed by God, all his Jewish descendants are considered a blessed people. They inherit all the blessings that God gave Abraham. Similarly, everything concerning Jesus serves as a representation of those who believe in Him.

So... shouldn't the followers of Jesus be exalted above the descendants of Adam and Abraham? Shouldn’t their lives reflect a greater measure of victory than everyone else’s?

Yet, it is the Jews who excel in various fields worldwide. And as Christians, we often live small and insignificant lives. Why is it that we, who are in Christ, seem to lag behind those who are in Adam and Abraham? And why do the Jews excel in life? Let’s discuss this in tomorrow’s section.

Challenge Question:

Other than the assurance of salvation, has being a Christian impacted your life in any other way? In all honesty, is your life better than the lives of the children of Adam or Abraham?

About this Plan

Who Am I?

Countless churchgoers are trapped in a cycle of spiritual failure because they lack understanding of who they truly are. We think we know who we are, yet our identity is more misplaced than we realize. More disheartening is that we are unaware of our own ignorance. And this ignorance is the devil’s greatest weapon. Jesus said, “Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” (John 8:32). The moment we know the truth about who we really are, our life will have a radical shift. This devotional aims to help you identify who you are.
