Who Am I?Sample

Who Am I?

DAY 10 OF 10

Abide and Rest Here

Identity isn’t forged by the work of our hands; it’s woven into us by our birth—our second birth. When we accept Jesus Christ as our Lord, we are born again. With this new birth comes a new identity.

But religion tells us we can become God’s children only through religious rituals, rules, and rites; it compels us to follow them in an effort to please God. Even Spirit-filled Christians often struggle under the weight of these laws. This is a snare of the devil concealed beneath the guise of religion.

It's easy to spot people in churches striving to prove themselves as children of God through fasting, long hours of prayer and Bible reading, and other acts of devotion. But if we flip this perspective, the truth becomes clear: we fast, pray and read the Bible willingly, out of love, because we are children of God and we desire to spend time with our Abba. We don’t do these things to make ourselves children of God. In other words, we do these things because we already have an identity, not to gain an identity.

In short: our actions do not define our identity; rather, our identity dictates how we behave. It is our identity that shapes our actions.

Those who possess this knowledge will never desire or seek any other identity. They find complete contentment in living as a child of God. When Jesus taught His disciples to pray, He didn’t say, “Our God in heaven.” Instead, He taught us to say, “Our Father in heaven.” Every time we pray, addressing God as our Father, our awareness deepens—that He is our Father and we are His children. Jesus’ intention was to strengthen this awareness within us.

Those who daily commune with God with a strong understanding that they are His child strengthen the foundation of their identity every day. When their awareness reaches its peak, they no longer allow their situations to shake them; instead, they shake the situation with faith.

A consistent, daily relationship with God empowers us to change the world, rather than being changed by the world.

Please don’t underestimate the power of being aware of your identity as a child of God. This awareness, like a stone cast into still waters, sends ripples through our lives, transforming everything in its path. May you know it, believe it, feel it, and live in its fullness every day. May you experience all the rich blessings and goodness the Father has for His children, and may your life be a blessing to the world around you. Amen.

Challenge Question:

Do you now comprehend who you truly are? How does this change your life from now on?

About this Plan

Who Am I?

Countless churchgoers are trapped in a cycle of spiritual failure because they lack understanding of who they truly are. We think we know who we are, yet our identity is more misplaced than we realize. More disheartening is that we are unaware of our own ignorance. And this ignorance is the devil’s greatest weapon. Jesus said, “Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” (John 8:32). The moment we know the truth about who we really are, our life will have a radical shift. This devotional aims to help you identify who you are.
