Crowned Through SurrenderSample

Courage to Act
Esther 4:16 "Go, gather together all the Jews who are in Susa, and fast for me. Do not eat or drink for three days, night or day. I and my attendants will fast as you do. When this is done, I will go to the king, even though it is against the law. And if I perish, I perish."
Esther’s courage was not birthed from her comfort or power as queen; it was birthed from her faith in God. When the weight of the situation rested on her shoulders, she knew that to save her people, she had to act. She moved in faith, even though doing so could have meant death.
But Esther didn’t proceed alone. She called on others to pray and fast with her, showing that her faith was not in her individual courage, but in God and His greater purpose.
This shows us that having courage doesn't mean fear disappears; courage gives us the willingness to move forward in the face of fear. What God calls us to do may look intimidating, but “God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.”
Throughout Scripture, and especially in Esther’s story, we see that God’s design is for His people to participate actively in His redemptive plans. We are His body on earth. Esther’s courage reveals that God doesn’t just call us to believe; He calls us to move in obedience and faith.
James 2:17 reminds us that “faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.”
Esther shows us what living faith looks like: faith wrestles with fear, counts the cost, and still obeys. Faith doesn’t ignore risk; it moves forward in spite of it.
Esther wasn't reckless. She acted in boldness after seeking God, revealing that the right action begins with surrender to God’s will. When we take steps in alignment with His timing and guidance, our actions become weapons in His hand.
Is there an area of your life where God is calling you to step forward in courage? Trust that God will give you the strength and courage to act.
Prayer:
God, I ask for the courage to act, even if it feels risky. I trust that You are with me. Show me where I need to be bold, and help me to follow Your lead even if it costs me. Help me to trust You for Your greater purpose. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
