Dwell HereSample

Choose the good part and sit at the feet of Jesus.
Martha invited the Lord to come into her home, distracted by preparing dinner, full of worry, trying to make sure that everything she was doing was going to be just right for Him. But yet it was her sister Mary, tender to the Lord, who chose what was needful, and that was to sit at His feet, her gaze upon Him, listening as He spoke, hanging on every word He said.
But the Lord replied to her, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and bothered and anxious about so many things; ' Luke 10:41
Martha was pulled away by distractions instead of receiving the impartation of the Lord.
That word "worried" in the original Greek is “merimnaó,” meaning literally, "to be anxious, divided, distracted (pulled into different parts)".
There are so many things that can easily pull us away and distract us from truly encountering the Lord. Maybe serving at your local church started off full of zeal, but it feels like you're headed into burnout. Or maybe you’ve found yourself in a hard season where you’re constantly contending for the promise but have slightly grown weary in battle. Whatever it is that has tried to weigh you down in worry or cause you to feel like everything is all over the place, making it seem like you can’t find your footing again, do this one thing and choose the good part. And just like Mary did, sit at the feet of Jesus.
Come away from the striving, trying to figure it out on your own, and instead turn toward the love of your Father to hear and cling to every word. He just wants us to come, with everything, simply as His sons and daughters, in His presence, to dwell here.
Prayerful Reflections
For our last prayerful reflection, I’d like to invite you to fast & pray. Fasting and prayer have been one of the most beautiful encounters, times of refreshing, reviving moments of devotion I've had with the Lord. One of the best ways to hear from the Lord even more clearly is when we subdue our flesh and cling to Him.
- This week, choose a day to fast and pray. Ask the Lord to reveal to you any areas of striving, burnout, or anxiety. Allow Him to lead you into repentance. Break the agreement with the spirit of fear, anxiety, religion, bitterness - everything that has pulled out of your dwelling place with Him. And ask the Lord to refresh you, revive you, and restore you again. In Jesus' name!
- Spend time in the Word and ask Him to speak to you. Write down every scripture that ministers to you, pray into it, and declare over yourself!
