Union With Christ

DAY 2 OF 7

DAY 2 — The Depth of Our Need

Scripture

Ephesians 2:1–3 (ESV)

“And you were dead in the trespasses and sins…”

Devotional

Yesterday we heard Jesus say that apart from Him we can do nothing. Paul explains why.

Scripture tells the truth. We were not spiritually weak. We were dead and unable to give ourselves life.

The problem beneath our struggle was not effort. It was death, and only Christ gives life.

We followed the patterns of this world. We were shaped by disordered desires. By nature, we stood under judgment. Left to ourselves, we could not change our condition.

But God did not leave us to ourselves.

The gospel begins with mercy. Your need is deeper than you imagined. Grace is greater still. Our life depends entirely on His.

Reflect

·Why is it freeing to admit you could not save yourself?

·How does that deepen gratitude?

Prayer

Father, thank You for meeting me in my helplessness. Teach me to rest in Your mercy.

About this Plan

Union With Christ

Many Christians know the language of grace yet still feel the strain of striving. What if the Christian life was never meant to be sustained by effort, but by shared life? This seven day journey explores the heart of salvation: union with Christ. From our deepest need to God’s merciful initiative, from the cross and resurrection to new identity, obedience, and future glory, you will discover what it means to live from Christ rather than for Him. If you are weary or uncertain, this plan invites you to rest in the life you already share with Him.
