Easter ReflectionsSample

Finally, after he is betrayed, Jesus is arrested by the chief priests and the guards. The betraying kiss of Judas gave way to a gang armed with clubs and swords.
There is a great contrast between the woman with the alabaster jar (Luke 7:36-49) and Judas. Both kiss the Savior, one fervently and willing to give up much for him, the other coldly, ready to give the Savior up for his own gain.
A kiss is a token of allegiance and friendship (Psalm 2:12). But Judas, when he broke all the laws of love and duty, profaned this sacred sign to serve his selfish purpose. Many betray Christ with a kiss; "Hail Master," they say, feigning honour when they hold no regard for his Kingdom.
Can you think of the worst betrayal you have ever endured? Mine must be when I skipped work to throw a surprise party for my ex, and she cheated right in front of me with one of the guests at the party. The next day, I got fired for skipping work! Betrayal is made worse when the betrayer is someone we treasure and would willingly give up so much for.
Life often tempts us with opportunities to betray our loving Saviour. Whenever we do, we undermine his purpose, and we fail to obey him through our actions. God desires that we love him and be ready to give our lives up for him rather than sacrifice his purpose to pursue our selfish agenda. So, during this Easter, think about this: are you ready to die for Christ, or is your love for him just mere lip worship?
Prayer:
Dear Lord, I ask you to help me remain faithful to you even unto death. Please help me not to trade you for anything in this life. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
