Growing Into Maturity

DAY 3 OF 5

Day 3: Discovering Your Gifts

Reading: Romans 12:3–8

Devotional:
God did not save you just to sit still. He saved you, filled you with His Spirit, and gifted you for a purpose. Romans 12 reminds us that grace has been given to each believer, and with that grace comes spiritual gifts meant to serve and strengthen others. These gifts are not given so we can build our platform; they are given so we can build up the body of Christ.

Some people are gifted to teach. Others serve quietly behind the scenes. Some encourage, some lead, some give generously, and some show mercy in ways that deeply reflect the heart of God. No matter what your gift is, it matters. The temptation is to compare your gift to someone else’s and assume yours is less important. But Scripture reminds us to think soberly and recognize that every grace-given role has value.

Often, your gifts become clear as you begin to serve faithfully. You may notice a burden for a certain group of people, a consistent desire to meet a certain need, or fruit that shows up when you step out in faith. Sometimes others will see your gift before you do. What matters is that you offer yourself to God and stay willing.

Do not wait for a perfect moment or a dramatic revelation before you begin serving. Start where there is need. Stay submitted to Scripture. Serve with humility. As you move, God will guide. The gifts He has placed in you are not random—they are part of His design and His purpose for your life.

Reflection Question:
What natural passion, burden, or area of fruit might God be shaping into a spiritual gift in your life?

Prayer:
Lord, thank You for creating me with purpose and gifting me by Your grace. Help me not to compare myself to others or minimize what You have placed in me. Show me how You want to use my life to serve others and build up Your church. Give me humility to serve, courage to step out, and wisdom to recognize the gifts You have entrusted to me. Let my life bring glory to You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
