Make Jesus Known

DAY 1 OF 6

Jesus said in Acts 1:8, "But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me..."

Did you get that? We are witnesses. But the question is, about who or what are you witnessing? In this life, you can be a witness to two things: either we witness about Jesus, or we witness about the world. It's either light or darkness, it's either God's Kingdom or satan's influence. We must make that choice every day of our lives. Believing in Jesus is not just a "repeat-a-prayer-once" type of thing. Jesus came to transform our lives completely. He came to end the power of our old lives and to give us power to live new lives that are built on Him. So, believing in Him means that we follow Him, we trust in Him, and we choose to live our lives in the way that pleases Him. Jesus Himself said in Matthew 12:30, "He who is not with Me is against Me, and he who does not gather with Me scatters abroad." Which means we must make up our minds. Do we witness for Jesus or do we witness for satan? It might sound harsh, but that is the reality. If we think that there is a middle ground or a fence, please know this: the fence also belongs to satan. The book of Revelation tells us that Jesus will vomit us out if we are lukewarm. We must either witness for Jesus, or we will witness for the world.

Every time we fall short of God's glory, we are witnessing that sin still has power. Every time we manifest Jesus to the people around us in word and deed, we testify that Jesus Christ died for us and rose again from the grave, nullifying sin's power over mankind. The choice is ours. Now I get it, you might say, "Yeah, but I'm human, and mistakes happen". To that, I urge you to please read Romans chapter 8. In summary, that chapter reveals to us how we can walk in the Spirit and not in the flesh. The flesh will give us excuses; the Spirit will give us power. This brings us back to our Scripture in Acts 1. So yes, you are human, but you are a human that carries God's Power.

Jesus gave us the power of the Holy Spirit so that we don't have to walk in the flesh, witnessing about sin's power. But so that we can walk in the Spirit, witnessing about Jesus and His finished work on the cross. And that is what this devotional plan is all about: it will help you to step out by faith and be a bold witness for Jesus. There might be some rebuke, there might be some encouragement. But one thing is for sure: if you take this plan to heart, then you will most definitely grow in your walk with Jesus. Being an effective witness in a lost world that so desperately needs Jesus and His Kingdom.

About this Plan

Make Jesus Known

Jesus commanded us to make disciples of all nations. Disciples are made from believers; believers are made by witnessing about Jesus. We all need to be effective witnesses for Jesus wherever we are. We are already witnesses, but what are we witnessing about? Witnessing is not about you. It is about the One you carry, about Jesus. This plan will help you be an effective witness for Jesus.
