Make Jesus Known

DAY 6 OF 6

So far, we have looked at disciples, clothing, leaves, and a colt, and we've learned from them a unique way to be witnesses for Jesus. But today I want to rewind a little bit to the young donkey. There is a small detail that we haven't touched on on day 2. The young donkey was not strolling around in the streets or grazing in the green fields nearby. No, Jesus said that the donkey was tied to a doorpost. For an animal to be tied like that meant that it was the property of someone else. It belonged to another master before Jesus sent His disciples to go and loose it.

My friend, you and I have been bound by sins since we were born. Sin's power had the upper hand over us until Jesus came to set us free. Romans 3:23 says that we all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. You and I were bound by the devil, and we naturally obeyed the sinful desires of our flesh. If you have received Jesus as the Saviour of your soul and made Him the Lord of your life, I have the best news for you. You are free, you are redeemed, you are forgiven, and you qualify to be a witness of the saving work of Jesus. Use your testimony to share what Jesus did in your life. Your testimony is a verbal account of how you lived upon a time, how Jesus saved you, and what difference Jesus has made in your life. Use that story to be a witness for Jesus.

Just like the donkey, we have been freed by Jesus to be used by Jesus. We have been saved to serve. To serve in His Kingdom, to serve in our local church communities, to serve others as we serve Jesus.

Now, I want you to picture the moment when Jesus entered the city in Mark 11. You are the donkey. The feeling of having someone on your back for the first time. Now imagine this. You have been bound your whole life at a doorpost, but now, your rider takes you back to the place you came from. You get this strange encounter. People no longer ignore you or feel sorry for you. They are beholding you as you walk down the streets; they are even casting palm branches and outer garments on the road for you to walk on. They welcome you with songs of praise and joy. But then it hits you.... they don't honour you; they honour the One that you carry.

You see, my friend, witnessing is not about you. It is about the One that you carry. Witnessing is not about feeling important; it is about Jesus being honoured. Witnessing is not about being known; it was, is, and will always be about Jesus. About Making Jesus Known.

About this Plan

Make Jesus Known

Jesus commanded us to make disciples of all nations. Disciples are made from believers; believers are made by witnessing about Jesus. We all need to be effective witnesses for Jesus wherever we are. We are already witnesses, but what are we witnessing about? Witnessing is not about you. It is about the One you carry, about Jesus. This plan will help you be an effective witness for Jesus.
