Make Jesus KnownSample

In the Gospel of Mark, we find a profound story in chapter 11. It is a story where Jesus entered Jerusalem on His way to die for the sins of the world. This story is packed with analogies and practical tips for us who desire to be a witness for Jesus.

In verse 2, we find a donkey. And not just any donkey, a colt to be specific. A colt is a young male donkey that is less than 4 years of age. The significance of why Jesus chose to use the colt and not an adult donkey is that a colt can only be ridden from the age of 4 years. Which means that Jesus was the first rider, as we can see in that verse. "...you will find a colt tied, on which no one has sat." The beauty in understanding that fact is that a donkey in Biblical times was primarily used for transport. Which means its purpose is to be a carrier for someone else's desire.

We are carriers for Jesus. If we don't carry Jesus, then we miss our purpose on earth. Did you get that? We are here for one reason: to carry Jesus to the places He desires to be. The apostle Paul said in 1 Corinthians 3:16 that our bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit, and He lives within us. That same power that enables us to be witnesses of Jesus living within us. The very Breath of God lives within us. God Himself, extended to earth as the Spirit, lives within us. Jesus paid the ultimate price by shedding His Blood so that we can receive the Holy Spirit once more. We are carriers for God.

Please note that donkeys didn't carry people when they stood still. A donkey will only stand still when the person has reached their destination. Other than that, the only time a person will jump on a donkey is to be mobile. To get from one place to another.

Which means that if we are carriers for Jesus, it doesn't mean that our purposes are complete. We have to go from being a carrier to being a deliverer of Jesus. Jesus is on the move. He wants to go to places, He wants to save people, He wants to heal people, He wants to advance His Kingdom on earth. And He is looking for people who are willing to be used by Him. Not to remain seated in church, not to remain a nominal Christian, not to continue to sleep and slumber. But to arise and shine because the Kingdom of God is within us. We must move with the Gospel. The Gospel is the power of God unto salvation, but the Gospel is powerless to your neighbour if they never hear it.
