Day 4 – Perfect Love Casts Out Fear

“There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love.”

– 1 John 4:18

It is possible to go through life unable to fully grasp the depth of God’s love because of fear or past difficulties. I can relate. In 2016, after my grandmother passed, I found myself questioning if God truly cared. In those painful moments, I doubted His love, which inspired my first blog post, God Has Not Forgotten. I’ve since learned that doubt is a lie from the enemy. No matter the trials we face, God’s love remains constant and unchanging.

One of the most cherished scriptures, John 3:16, reminds us that God loved the world, including you, so much that He gave His one and only Son, Jesus, so that we could spend eternity with Him. This is Agape love, the highest, most selfless, and sacrificial form of love. This perfect love casts out fear (1 John 4:18).

God’s love brings confidence and security. Where fear once ruled, His love replaces it with peace and joy. Romans 5:5 tells us that His love is poured into our hearts, giving us a hope that will never disappoint. The Bible also says, “God is love” (1 John 4:16). When we abide in His love, we dwell in Him, and He dwells in us. No matter how unworthy or unloved you might feel, His love is real and unshakable.

If you’ve ever doubted God’s love, immerse yourself in Scripture and meditate on the truths it reveals. The more you spend time in His Word and presence, the more your heart embraces His unending love.

Scriptures on God’s Love

• God loved you first (1 John 4:19).
• God chose you before the world began (Ephesians 1:4-6).
• God’s love is everlasting (Jeremiah 31:3).
• God knew you before you were born (Jeremiah 1:5).
• You are a conqueror because of His love (Romans 8:37).
• God’s love paid for your sins (1 John 4:10).
• God loved you while you were still a sinner (Romans 5:8).
• Nothing can separate you from His love (Romans 8:38-39).
• God’s love surpasses understanding (Ephesians 3:17-19).

As you meditate on these verses, let them strengthen your heart and remind you of God’s unfailing love. His perfect love will continue to cast out every fear, giving you confidence to walk in His peace and joy.

Take time today to reflect on these truths. Write them in a journal, memorise them, and allow them to transform the way you see yourself and your relationship with God. His love is perfect, and it is for you.
