Day 8 – Be Courageous
“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”
– Joshua 1:9
Welcome to Day 8, the final part of this journey. And if there’s one thing God wants you to walk away with, it’s this: you are called to live courageously, not fearfully.
Fear and discouragement often go hand in hand. Many times in my own life, whenever fear crept in, discouragement followed. But Scripture teaches that true courage comes from knowing God is always with us. When we trust in His presence, we can stand firm in faith, no matter the obstacles.
Gideon’s Story: From Fearful to Fearless
Gideon (Judges 6) was called to save Israel from the Midianites, but he doubted himself. He questioned God, asked for multiple signs, and made excuses, believing he was unqualified.
Does this sound familiar? Perhaps God has called you to something, but you feel unequipped or uncertain. Like Gideon, when we trust God, He equips us and strengthens us to fulfil His purpose. Gideon overcame his fear and led Israel to victory through faith, not his own strength.
Joshua’s Commission: A Call to Boldness
When God called Joshua to lead Israel into the Promised Land, He instructed him to:
- Be strong and courageous
- Do not be afraid
- Remember that God is with you
These instructions apply to us today.
Why You Don’t Need to Fear
- God is your refuge and strength, always present in trouble (Psalm 46:1-2).
- God is with you and will comfort you (Psalm 23:4).
- God is your salvation, strength, and defence (Isaiah 12:2).
- God will strengthen your heart (Psalm 31:24).
Courage Comes From God
True courage comes from faith in God, not our own strength. As you lean on Him, renew your mind, and trust His promises, fear loses its grip. Imagine stepping into your calling with boldness and confidence, pursuing God’s purpose unapologetically. That is the life of faith and freedom He desires for you.
As we close, my prayer is that you walk away strengthened, encouraged, and ready to move forward, not in fear, but in faith.
