Day 2: Know Who the Real Enemy Is
One of the easiest ways to lose your footing in a spiritual battle is to fight the wrong enemy.
I have had people oppose worship, interrupt gatherings, and try to shut things down in aggressive ways. In those moments, the reaction comes fast. Your body tightens. Your emotions rise. Everything in you wants to respond in kind. But Scripture reminds us that our struggle is not against flesh and blood.
People are rarely the source of the darkness they carry.
When we mistake people for the enemy, we start fighting on the wrong level. Anger grows louder. Division deepens. Peace disappears. Paul tells us to live at peace with everyone as far as it depends on us, not because everyone is peaceful, but because peace protects our spiritual authority.
Jesus modeled this perfectly. He confronted evil directly while loving people relentlessly. He did not confuse opposition with identity. Even when attacked, He refused to let hatred determine His response.
I have had seasons where criticism cut deeply, especially when it came from people who claimed to share my faith. God had to slow me down and redirect my heart. When I stopped reacting and started praying, my perspective shifted. Compassion replaced defensiveness. Authority returned.
Loving your enemies does not mean agreeing with them. It means refusing to let darkness shape your spirit. When we pray for those who oppose us, we keep the battle where it belongs.
The enemy wants believers divided and distracted. God wants us clear-eyed, grounded, and fighting from a place of love and truth.
Reflection Questions:
- Who or what has been stirring frustration, anger, or defensiveness in me lately?
- How do I usually respond when I feel opposed or misunderstood?
- In what situations do I need to shift from reacting emotionally to praying intentionally?
- What would change if I truly believed people are not my enemy?
Prayer:
Jesus, help me see people through Your eyes. Teach me to resist darkness without losing compassion and to walk in peace without surrendering truth.
About this Plan

If you are tired of passive faith and feel there has to be more than going through the motions, this plan is for you. In this seven-day devotional, Sean Feucht invites you to step out of passive faith and into clear-eyed, grounded discipleship. Drawing from Scripture, personal experience, and the reality of spiritual warfare in our time, each day calls you to examine what you believe, how you live, and whether you are truly awake to what God is doing right now.
