DAY 5 OF 7

Day 5: War Comes with a Cost

Standing for Jesus has always carried a cost.

Jesus never hid that from His disciples. He spoke plainly about persecution, betrayal, and pressure. He did not promise safety. He promised purpose. That clarity matters, especially in a time when comfort is often mistaken for blessing.

I have watched friends pay a high price for standing firm. I have felt the weight of loss myself. When someone you love is silenced for their faith, it forces you to confront what you truly believe. Is obedience worth it? Is faith still worth defending?

Scripture reminds us that fruit often comes through surrender. Seeds do not multiply unless they are buried. Testimony carries power because it costs something to give it.

The enemy believes fear will silence the church. History tells a different story. Every attempt to crush faith has only spread it further. The blood of martyrs has always watered the ground for revival.

We are not called to chase suffering. We are called to refuse retreat. There is a difference. Faithfulness does not mean recklessness. It means resolve.

I have had moments where backing down would have been easier. I understand the temptation to stay quiet. But every time obedience costs something, it also produces clarity. Fear loses leverage when you decide ahead of time that Jesus is worth whatever comes.

Your life is not your own. That truth is not heavy. It is freeing.

Eternity measures differently than this world does. When you live with that perspective, courage becomes possible.

Reflection Questions:

  • What fears surface when I think about fully obeying God?
  • Where have I been tempted to choose comfort over conviction?
  • How do I respond when faithfulness brings resistance or loss?
  • What would it mean for me to trust God with the cost of obedience?

Prayer:

Jesus, strengthen my resolve. Help me stand firm when obedience costs me something and keep my eyes fixed on eternity.

About this Plan

No Turning Back

If you are tired of passive faith and feel there has to be more than going through the motions, this plan is for you. In this seven-day devotional, Sean Feucht invites you to step out of passive faith and into clear-eyed, grounded discipleship. Drawing from Scripture, personal experience, and the reality of spiritual warfare in our time, each day calls you to examine what you believe, how you live, and whether you are truly awake to what God is doing right now.
