Liberty Worship Collective: Run

DAY 1 OF 5

When we run to the goodness of God, we run away from that which is unholy. When we run to Him who creates and restores, we run away from that which brings destruction. When we run to Him who gives life, we run away from that which brings death.

In Colossians 3:5, Paul challenges us, “Put to death therefore what is earthly in you: sexual immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry.” If we choose to run to anything besides Jesus, we are idolaters. Do not be fooled, our modern-day idolatry is just as dangerous and sinful as that which can be seen by the Israelites in the Old Testament.

When we aren’t intentionally running to God, by default, we end up running to other things. We choose comfort over sharing the gospel. We fear for that which we cannot control. We give our time to things that pale in comparison to the splendor of an abundant life in Christ. We choose lifestyles that are counter to the holiness of God.

As followers of Jesus, we should crave that which brings life and edifies. In Psalm 34:8a, David writes, “Taste and see that the LORD is good.” When our mindset shifts and we truly taste and see the Father’s love for us, there is nothing we can do but rejoice in his goodness! As his children, we get to delight in Who He is and all that he has done. He withholds the wrath we deserve and lavishes us with grace upon grace.

As He calls out to you, daughter or son, run to the goodness of God.
