Ipapo Pauro akasimuka mumusangano weAreopagasi akati, “Varume veAtene! Ndinoona kuti panzira dzose muri vanhu vechitendero zvikuru. Nokuti ndakati ndichifamba-famba uye ndikanyatsotarisisa zvinhu zvamunonamata, ndakaonawo aritari yakanyorwa kunzi: KUNA MWARI ASINGAZIVIKANWI. Zvino chamunonamata sechinhu chisingazivikanwi ndicho chandinokuparidzirai. “Mwari akasika nyika nezvinhu zvose zviri mairi ndiye Ishe wedenga napasi uye haagari mutemberi dzakavakwa namaoko. Iye haashumirwi namaoko avanhu, sokunge anoshayiwa chinhu, nokuti iye amene anopa vanhu vose upenyu nokufema, nezvimwewo zvinhu. Kubva pamunhu mumwe chete akaita ndudzi dzose dzavanhu, kuti vagare panyika yose; uye akavatarira nguva nenzvimbo dzavo chaidzo dzavangagara. Mwari akaita izvi kuitira kuti vanhu vagomutsvaka kuti zvimwe vangamuwana, kunyange zvake asiri kure nomumwe nomumwe wedu. ‘Nokuti maari ndimo matinorarama nomatinofamba, uye ndimo matigere.’ Sezvakarehwa navamwe vadetembi vokwenyu vachiti, ‘Tiri chibereko chake.’ “Naizvozvo sezvo tiri chibereko chaMwari, hatifaniri kufunga kuti umwari hwakaita segoridhe kana sirivha kana ibwe, chifananidzo chakavezwa noumhizha hwomunhu. Nokuti akatara zuva raachatonga nyika nokururamisira nomurume waakagadza. Akaratidza izvi kuvanhu vose nokumumutsa kubva kuvakafa.”

Nokuti maari tino upenyu, tinofamba, tiripo; sezvavakareva vamwe vanyori venziyo vokwenyu, vachiti, ‘Nokuti tiri rudzi rwakewo.’ “Zvatiri rudzi rwaMwari, hatifaniri kuti uMwari hwakafanana nendarama, kana sirivha, kana ibwe, zvakavezwa noumhizha kana nokuchenjera kwomunhu. Naizvozvo Mwari akarega hake kurangarira nguva dzokusaziva; asi zvino anorayira vanhu vose kwose-kwose kuti vatendeuke. Nokuti akatara zuva, raachatonga nyika naro nokururama, nomurume waakagadza; akasimbisa shoko iro kuna vose, pakumumutsa kuvakafa.”

Nokudaro Pauro akamira pakati peAriopagusi akati, “Varume veAteni ndinoona kuti muzvinhu zvose muri vanamati nokuti zvandafamba neguta ndikaona zvinhu zvamunonamata ndawana imwe atari yakanyorwa kunzi, ‘KUNA MWARI ASINGAZIIKANWI.’ Chamuri kunamata musingazivi ichocho ndicho chandiri kukuparidzai chokuti, ‘Mwari iyeyo ndiye akasika nyika nezvose zvirimo. Ndiye Tenzi wedenga napasi. Haagari muTemberi dzakavakwa navanhu. Haashandirwi namaoko avanhu sokunge ane chimwe chaanoshaya nokuti ndiye anotopa vanhu vose upenyu nemweya wavanofema nawo nezvinhu zvose. Akaita marudzi ose avanhu kubva kumunhu mumwechete kuti vagare pasi pose. Akatema mwaka nemiganho nenyika dzavanogara, uye kuti vatsvage Mwari nechitarisiro chokuti vangangomutsvanzvadzira vagomuwana asi iye haasiri kure kwomumwe nomumwe wedu.’ “Chiripo ndechokuti, ‘Upenyu hwedu huri maari kuti tifambe ndiye uye kuti tivepo ndiye,’ sokutaura kwavanyori venyu venhetembo vachiti, ‘Zvechokwadi tiri vana vake.’ Zvatiri vana vake hatifaniri kufunga kuti Mwari akafanana nendarama kana sirivha kana ibwe zvinongova chifananidzo chakaitwa noumhizha kana zvinongofungwawo navanhu. Nguva dzokusaziva dziya, Mwari haana hanya nadzo. Asi iye zvino anoti munhu wose, kose kose zvako, anofanira kupinduka, pamusana pokuti akatema zuva raachatonga pasi pose noruenzaniso uye nokumunhu waakasarudza. Izvi zvakasimbisiswa kuna vanhu vose nokumumutswa kwaakaita kuvakafa.”
