Hebrews: A 28-Day Musical Devotional预览
For Heaven's Sake
This next song should sound familiar. It is a reprise of an earlier track called “Peace on Earth… / A Conversation” from chapters 4 and 5. The first section of that song (“Peace on Earth…”) is based on Hebrews 4:14-16, a text that is very similar to today’s passage in chapter 10.
“Since then we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.” (Hebrews 4:14-16)
These two texts function as bookends within Hebrews, framing the central narrative about Jesus as the high priest and the new covenant offering. Today’s reading concludes that discussion, emphasizing once again the fact that believers can and should draw near to the throne of God. Why? Because we have a great high priest who is interceding for us in heaven. This passage also serves to transition back into the exhortation.
