Creatives working in fashion and beauty industries are on the front lines of the battlefield between the perceived worldly and godly. The term “modesty” has been interpreted and dissected many times over, certain Christian sects opting not to wear makeup and jewelry and wearing clothes more “modest” in nature. As a fashion and beauty creatives, the modesty argument has the ability to literally strangle the very source of creative anointing that God wills to use to bring beauty into the earth. What beautician worker hasn’t seen the transformative power of a new haircut? Who, male or female, hasn’t nodded their head at a man in a well-tailored suit? There is a fine line between admiration and lust and as Christian fashion creatives, we aim not to be a hindrance to our fellow believers. However, we’ve all been taken in by makeover shows, crying at the reveal of a woman who has gotten her joy and confidence back after spending years in a pattern of negative thought habits. In part, we know that beauty and confidence go hand in hand. The issue is when begin to lean on our outward appearance rather than God. So, understand that vanity and pride are a heart issue, not a makeup and fashion issue. Our goal is to bring out the inner beauty of our clients as to match their true God-nature, freeing them from the baggage that many of them carry in to our salons, makeup counters and boutiques.
