Holy Week, The Wise & Faithful - Disciple Makers Series #24预览
The Parable of the Talents (Part 1)
Thoughts on the message
This is a story about Jesus looking for faithfulness in His people.
First, the servants are responsible for the master’s resources until He comes back.
Second, each is given a portion based on their abilities.
Third, when the master returns He will ask them to account for their use of His resources.
It is easy to see here that Jesus has given us responsibility to represent Him while He is gone. He has given us abilities and resources to use and requires that we use them effectively. Some people get to work and do a good job with the abilities and resources God entrusts to us. Some do not – these people just bury it and use their time for their own things.
Tomorrow we will read about the cost of faithfulness and unfaithfulness with these resources God has given to us.
Prayer
Father, I need to look again at the things that You have given to me – gifts, resources, abilities. Am I using them for me and what I want? Am I using them so that Your Kingdom will grow? Sometimes I focus on one or two and do not use all of them rightly. So today, I ask that You show me where I am not using them all for You. I do not want to come to the day when You ask for an accounting and I have done nothing with some of them. Also, thank you for trusting me with all of these. It is a powerful trust that You have given to me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
