His Passion and Joy
Jesus’ mission was not just a dutiful obligation. His mission was, and always will be, about delivering us and giving new, abundant life. He cares for all people and is deeply committed to us.
Both His life and death fully expressed His commitment to us. He is the Father’s heart on display for all to see. The final scene from His mission is the cross of Calvary, where blood and love mingled together and flowed to give new life. It is called The Passion for a reason. He loved us to the end.
Joy drove Jesus to the cross. Since the beginning, men and women suffered under the curse of sin and death. In His final moments, as His flesh was torn and His body broken, His statement made to all people everywhere was one of passionate desire and zeal for our healing, deliverance, and restoration.
Because of the joy awaiting him, he endured the cross. —Hebrews 12:2 (NLT)
He did it all for love. No amount of pain and sorrow could keep Him from you. No amount of struggle and difficulty would hinder His approach. He came so far and drew so near that you might see His kindness and commitment. When you think of God, do you see the gleaming eyes of Jesus, the Son of Man, full of tenderness and zeal? Do you look through those eyes of mercy at the lost and broken who do not yet know Him?
THE LIFE OF JESUS FLOWS THROUGH YOU
If you have freely received the grace of God and encountered His extravagant mercy, freely share it. Go and do likewise. You are the desire of His heart, and so are the lost.
