Lessons From 2 Chronicles: Devotions From Time Of Grace预览
Deep trouble
What’s the worst trouble you’ve ever been in? Persistent unemployment? Disabling automobile accident? Massive debts? In jail? Caught cheating on your spouse? Multiple DWIs? Terribly prodigal children? Drug addiction?
King Jehoshaphat’s worst nightmare was coming right at him: a huge army of bitter enemies was moving in on his land from the south. As he made military preparations, he did the best and wisest possible thing—he prayed passionately and from the heart to his God on behalf of the nation: “Our God, will you not judge them? For we have no power to face this vast army that is attacking us. We do not know what to do, but our eyes are on you” (2 Chronicles 20:12). God heard their prayers. He not only gave victory to the Israelites; he also confused the minds of the various nations in the attacking coalition so that they attacked and killed off one other. It took the Israelites four days to collect all the plunder.
When you are overwhelmed; when you don’t know what to do; when you feel as though you have no power; say King Jehoshaphat’s prayer. God has not lost even one kilowatt of power, and his love for you still burns bright. Call out for help in the name of Jesus, and let God know that your eyes are on him.
Then watch and listen for his rescue—in his way, at his time. The right way. The right time.
