The Specialist in the Impossible

Sometimes it feels like we put God in a little humansized box when it comes to believing what He can do. We read the Bible and read of all the incredible things He has done, yet when it comes to believing for miracles and breakthroughs, our belief in His power is downsized. We believe that He is good, but we don’t always believe that He can do big things. It’s as if some things are impossible, even for Almighty God.

But the truth is that God specialises in the impossible. Where we see a mountain, God sees a molehill. The One who made the earth is bigger than all He created. And what’s more, He can do more than we can possibly imagine. When the Israelites stood at the edge of the water trying to escape Pharaoh, God parting the waters probably wasn’t what they expected from Him (Exodus 14:15–22). Likewise for Mary and Martha. They believed that Jesus could have healed Lazarus, yet when Jesus turned up four days after Lazarus had died, no one expected Him to call Lazarus out of his tomb (John 11:17–44).

God is more than able to do miraculous things. The God who raised Jesus from the grave hasn’t lost His power or might. Even today, He is still able. But do we believe that He can? Are we praying big, impossible prayers believing that our mighty God can do it? If your prayers feel too big for God, can I encourage you today to remember that the God of the Bible, the mighty One who saves, hasn’t lost His power. He is just as able to do the impossible today as He was over 2,000 years ago – we just need to believe that He can do it.

Real Hope: Abundant Provision

It’s so easy to be exhausted by the world – by the confusion, chaos, the constant striving for more, the constant push for success. In the constant noise, it’s easy to lose sight of all we have to be thankful for – all the things our amazing Father has provided to us over and above what we deserve. As you go through this plan's devotionals, use this time to stop. Take a break from the noise around you and meditate on our Saviour King and the abundance of His care, love and provision for you and your life.
