Real Hope: Abundant Provision预览
Blessing Recognised
In one of the most often quoted and memorised verses in the Bible, the Apostle Paul gives us the assurance that ‘we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them’ (Romans 8:28).
When things aren’t going so well, it’s hard to keep this in any sort of perspective, and yet, if we look at the example of Joseph, we can see how God works His hand through circumstances to provide abundantly for His people. Yes, Joseph went through some rough moments, but it was through and because of those trials that God was able to provide for others. God positioned Joseph so the blessings could flow. And flow they did.
And yet God’s provision is not just material. He’s aware of all our needs; material and emotional and spiritual. God knows what we need well before we do, and He puts things in place so we are provided for abundantly.
John Piper is quoted as saying, ‘God is always doing 10,000 things in your life, but you may be aware of three of them’. It makes sense to be thankful all the time, in all things, if we don’t know how God is going to work things through.
It’s easy to be thankful when times are good. But when life is pear-shaped it’s hard to recognise our blessings. It’s times like these we should look to the ultimate blessing, the absolute abundance in Jesus Christ, for He is the greatest gift. Above all else, our hearts should be glad, our thanksgiving lifted in praise and song that God sent His only Son to die for us. How amazing is that?

In the constant noise, it’s easy to lose sight of all we have to be thankful for – all the things our amazing Father has provided to us over and above what we deserve. As you go through this plan's devotionals, use this time to stop.
