Scripture

Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise! Give thanks to him; bless his name! For the Lord is good; his steadfast love endures forever, and his faithfulness to all generations. Psalm 100:4-5

Summary

It is easy to be discontent. It is easy to be ungrateful. Dissatisfied. To compare our lives to others. To focus on what we DON'T have. But think about what you DO have: Friends, family, a church community, health, sight, hearing, a mind, an education, literacy, a place to live, food, taste buds, transportation, musical giftings, eternal salvation, the Holy Spirit as Helper, God as Father, Christ as Savior. That's just the tip of the iceberg! We are extremely blessed! We should daily count our blessings. Then our hearts would overflow with praise and gratitude to God. Truly He is good, and His steadfast love endures forever. Let us be a people marked by gratitude.

Discussion Questions

1. Are you more naturally marked by gratitude or grumbling? Why do you think that is?

2. What are some practices that might help you be more aware of God's goodness?

3. What are three things you are grateful for RIGHT NOW in this season of your life?

4. Any other thoughts, comments, ideas or questions you'd like to share?

Closing Prayer

Lord God, we give you thanks. You have been so so good to us. Everything we have is an undeserved gift from you. Even this moment in time. Thank you, Lord. We breathe in right now and realize that life is a gift. Thank you, Lord, for all that we have. Thank you, Lord that you are so generous to us. Help us focus on all of the blessings you provide, not on the things we think we lack. Thank you that you know what NOT to give us. Help us to lead the way in gratitude. Help us to daily enter your courts with thanksgiving. In Jesus' name. Amen.
