Dinner With Jesus预览
One of the best things about having so many various encounters with Jesus recorded for us in the gospels, is seeing what kind of people Jesus was drawn to. We might think that because Jesus was such a big deal, He was inclined to keep company with other “celebrities.” The truth is, Jesus was drawn towards the people no one expected—the overlooked, passed by, and discarded. These people weren’t famous and didn’t have influence. They were the exact opposite. Jesus intentionally spent time with the people everyone else would have avoided—and these same people were drawn to Him. Jesus operated with a different metric in mind. He lived in the way James, His half-brother, was writing about in this verse.
Jesus knew that people who have the most to teach us about what God is like, aren’t usually those with the most power, influence, and celebrity. They are the ones at the bottom of the ladder and on the fringes of society. In other words, we shouldn’t discount anyone for teaching us about the Kingdom of God. Everyone we meet is a teacher. Who could you be learning from that you might have written off?
