You’re Rolling With Us 

Have you ever been in a situation or place that has made you feel uncomfortable? Here’s a quick personal list: the doctor’s office, when people forget your name and you just met, or the moment you tell that joke you honestly thought was so funny but no one laughed—yeah, pretty uncomfortable! 

I can remember the first time I went to our church, and if I’m honest it was one of those uncomfortable moments for me. I felt so out of place. But, I remember someone saying “just keep showing up, keep coming back”. So I kept showing up even though I felt out of place, even though I felt like what I had to offer wasn’t good enough because I felt so far removed from God. I felt a new kind of desperation—wanting to be a part of something, wanting to make new friends and find a new community, wanting to live out that phrase that I proclaimed when I put my hand up to follow Jesus. I wanted new life. Every time I made a decision to walk inside a church service or go to another connect group it did something in me; I started to feel a bit less uncomfortable and more at home. It wasn’t always easy, and at times stepping out of my comfort zone hurt a little, but I knew it was good pain: growing pain. 

I love how this passage in Acts shows the passion people had. I can’t imagine it was easy, but they continually sacrificed, devoted themselves, and gave everything to be a part of their community and to live for the sake of the Gospel. The truth is, nobody likes growing pains and because of that we often put up walls in our lives to avoid the pain. But sometimes we need to embrace the pain, letting passion be the bridge that takes us from pain to change.

You’re doing better than you think you are, you made it to day one. Keep going and remember you are rolling with us as part of this family! YOU GOT THIS. See you tomorrow.
