First On The Scene
What is it about an opening scene that captivates us? When we read or hear a story, when we watch a play at the theater, when we go to the movies or watch a tv show, the opening scene is what captivates us and helps us decide if we are really interested. AM I IN OR AM I OUT? The opening scene is where you set the tone, the style, and from there you can move forward with your story.
I love that we serve a God who was first on the scene, He set the tone. He opened up the story promising to take care of me and to be there for me. He established his character as someone who wants to know how I am doing always. At the core, He wants me to need Him, He wants me to seek Him. He has already set the scene and we are now a part of His story. Reading about the prodigal son is the perfect example of God being there for His children, for you.
He is this the first on the scene in our everyday lives and in every thought we think, issue we have, and fear we face.
Youth, God is there. In the midst of your circumstance, in the midst of your need, in the midst of your lack. Remember that He’s been on the scene. I love that we read that the son came to his senses. He was reminded of the goodness of his father, and reminded about his faithfulness towards humanity.
OUR THOUGHT LIFE WILL DETERMINE OUR REALITY. We need to be careful about the things that we are putting in our minds because what we put in, we will get out. Remember that God has called each and every one of us to be a light in dark places, so ultimately, what we put in our minds has the potential to not only affect us, but everyone around us as well.
I encourage you to always remember that Jesus is on the scene and He wants to help. He can do anything. The Bible tells us in Romans 12:2: Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.
Invite Jesus into your life to do the work because his will is good, pleasing and perfect. Be reminded that you can take refuge in His word, He is our ever present help. He is there with you in times of trouble, He is there with you when you need strength.
I love that in this story in the bible, the son was a long way off and he was still seen; this is such a perfect picture of God being the first on the scene. Before the son was even there, the father was already preparing. I love that God is always there when we need him. I love that he never leaves us even when we forget about him. He is a safe place, a place of refuge, a place of strength, a place of hope. Where is that place for you? Do you have a place in the city that is your place with God, a place where he always shows up? Where is that place that you leave with more clarity, more strength, more understanding, more of Him and less of you?
I love that Jesus is the first on the scene with LOVE, CARE, STRENGTH, HEALING, ANSWERS, PEACE, HELP, HOME, FRIENDSHIP, PURPOSE, GRACE, PROVISION. Everything. Whatever we are facing today, remember that Jesus is going to show up.
دەربارەی ئەم پلانە

We’re coming out of one of the best weeks of our lives! Summer Camp was unforgettable, but it can be pretty hard to keep up that feeling of camp hype when we’re back home. It can be easy to feel alone or be unmotivated to keep showing up to youth, your connect group, or Sunday service. But you’re actually not alone! We are kicking off the next 7 days with an awesome devotional because the hype DOES NOT END AT CAMP.
