Come to the Table: A Special Needs Devotionalنموونە

If Something Happens to Me, What Will Happen to My Loved Ones?
One of the most common concerns of caregivers is what will happen to their loved one if something happens to them. A popular meme says, “I am an Autism mom and I can never die.” A similar question for those with the disability is what will happen if a medical condition causes further disability or impairment. How will you support yourself? When I counsel patients and clients, I remind them that fear can be our enemy and cause “paralysis of analysis” type questions. So I help them shift from fear-based questions to love-based decision making. We begin to ask questions like, “what can I do, in love, to prepare?” While we are cautioned against worrying about the future, we are instructed to make provisions for ourselves and our loved ones.

If you or a loved one are touched by a special medical need, you have faced many questions. In this study, the story of Mephibosheth is used to address some of those questions from the view of the Father. May it bring you peace and joy on your journey.
