Come to the Table: A Special Needs Devotionalنموونە

Will I See My Loved One in Heaven?
While much of Mephibosheth’s story focuses on his physical condition, it is notable that his spiritual and mental condition had been broken as well. During introductions, Mephibosheth asks why the king is even interested in a “dead dog” like him. Clearly something must not have been properly communicated to Mephibosheth for him to think of himself as dead and less than human. What lies had he been believing?
I and other parents have wondered about the spiritual relationship for our children, particularly if there is an intellectual disability. Will they have an understanding of the things of God? Will they know the love of God and have an intimate relationship with him? I have found solace in God’s word, which tells us that we are created in his divine image and we are all necessary. In fact, he says that the weaker vessels, those that have different abilities, are indispensable and are to be treated with special honor. He himself has prepared for them a special place, a seat of honor at the table of eternity.
