How Do I Forgive Them?

Decide to Forgive And Take Action

Everything we have discussed so far leads to this moment.

Are you ready to forgive?

Are you ready to shed the burden that has been weighing you down?

Right here, right now, you can begin to walk in forgiveness and live in the freedom you were meant to experience. Our words have power, and God answers prayers (John 14:13-14). Repeat this prayer below, out loud.

"God, I have been holding on to this weight for too long, and I am ready to let it go. I don’t want to be trapped any longer.
"Right now, I choose to forgive (name). What they did to me was wrong, but I will not allow it to keep me trapped any longer. Today, I choose to release them, and I choose to live in freedom.
"I ask you to help me walk in love with them as you have commanded me. Because the love of God is shed in my heart, I know I can do it. I know I don’t have to trust them, but I know I can love them.
"Thank you, God, for this.
"In Jesus’ Name,
"Amen!!!"

YOU DID IT! You have forgiven the person or persons who hurt you! You are now set free.

What Happens Now?

Even though you have forgiven the person who hurt you, that doesn’t mean that life will just magically be better now. Forgiveness is just the first step in the healing process, but the first step is important because you can’t skip it. It is impossible to heal from the wound without letting go of the thing that is keeping the wound open. Unforgiveness will keep that wound open!

But now, you are on your way to living a life of freedom, wholeness, and health that you may have never experienced before. I can tell you from experience that it is so much better than holding on to unforgiveness.

Sometimes We Doubt

There are life events that shake our faith. Many people try to act like they are in faith because they are supposed to be. It’s the Christian thing to do. But God wants our hearts more than He wants our actions. It’s the heart that God is after.

Freedom Through Forgiveness

Forgiveness is a topic discussed at many levels. Some say it is an action you take, while others believe it is a feeling you experience. In this devotional, you will learn what forgiveness is from God's perspective. Your freedom lies on the other side of forgiveness. It is time to forgive and live. - Devon Daniel, Associate Pastor
