All the Feels - Leading Our Emotionsنموونە

DAY 14: EMBARRASSED
Have you ever felt the sting of embarrassment? Maybe you felt the blood rush to your cheeks, heart begin to race, and suddenly an overwhelming desire to just disappear. Me too, we’ve all been there.Feeling embarrassed can cause us to shrink away + hide.
Its effects can be long lasting as we replay it on a loop in our head even causing us to feel insecure. Our embarrassment can often be a mirror revealing our deep desires to please others, fit in, and avoid making mistakes. While there’s no way around feeling embarrassed at times, getting to the root of it will help put things in perspective.
The reality is, we need a heart check. Are we seeking the approval of man or God? Are we so afraid of what others think of us that we don’t allow ourselves to make mistakes? We can either isolate and shrink ourselves down to please those around us, or lean in, laugh it off and grow in humility instead. We can choose to remind ourselves of who we are in Christ. The Bible tells us, “Humble yourselves before the Lord, and He will lift you up.” (James 4:10, NIV)
The next time you feel embarrassed, take a deep breath + remind yourself that YOU are a child of God. You don’t live for man’s approval, only God’s. It’s okay that you made a mistake. Laugh it off, acknowledge it was awkward + others will follow your lead. If it’s still bothering you later, pray about it and then call a friend that will remind you in Truth who you are.

Feelings. We all have them. Some of us speak them out loud while others silently shut down. As we walk through life experiencing the highs and lows of celebrating, grieving and everything in between—what happens to us and our relationships when we let what we feel drive what we do? How can we lead our feelings instead of being led by them? Let’s learn how to authentically navigate "all the feels" according to God’s Word without allowing our emotions to cloud our experiences. 30 Day-Devo by Nicole Wiencek with Ashley Clement.
