Marked

Being appointed means you are not just assigned or chosen, but also "marked." You are "set apart!" (Psalm 4:3)

One could interpret being marked as having a target on one's back. That is a correct vision of being appointed by God. James tells us to expect trials and tribulations as followers of Jesus Christ and to "count it all joy" when we suffer them. Eeeek! It can be hard to consider suffering as joy with servitude, but when we compare it to the sacrifice that Jesus made for us on that cross, our sufferings do pale in comparison to what He endured for us. Then, it is certainly a privilege to go through whatever we must for the cause of Christ to gain more souls into heaven. (James 1:2-8) James goes on to say that it tests our faith, makes us steadfast and complete, and we will not lack. Then we are told that in order not to lack, we have to ask without doubting. Doubting brings instability, and the mind is all over the place. I don't know about you, but I have had a struggle or two with doubt in my life, just to find myself ashamed that I would even try to worry when I know Who holds every moment of this small time here on Earth.

The responsibility that comes with being marked and appointed by The Master is weighty. It can be daunting at times to think about the level of accountability that comes with being appointed by God. We can continuously be rejected by men, but not by the Almighty God! That makes it worth our effort! He never forsakes us. We are precious in His sight, and He promises to take care of us as we follow Him! (1 Peter 2:4-5 &9, Psalm 46:1)

Once we are appointed to represent and serve God, to know Him and to make Him known, then our lives must look different. Peculiar, if you will. (Titus 2:14)

When a Soldier in the military is set apart for a special role or rank, he or she is recognized as different, special, and highly accountable to others for putting the best interests of their entire nation first. Just as a soldier in the military, we ARE the Army of God. This is the highest and most prestigious rank we can possibly fill that will matter for all eternity across the world...walk worthy of this most high call. (Eph. 4:1)

Appointed

We are not called to mediocracy. We are called to boldness. To fearlessness. To purpose. To lasting impact. We are to share God's legacy, to really know Him, and make Him known. As a believer, YOU are appointed into the Army of God. In this study, we will look at what is "Appointed by God," how it transcribes into our lives, and how to walk in this divine marking of God for kingdom expansion!
