River Valley Church SOAP - Part 5Sample

Exodus is a continued narrative of the events that begin in Genesis. The title of the book translates to “exit” or “departure” and refers to God’s miraculous rescue of the enslaved Israelites from Egypt. In the first chapters, we see God’s chosen people beginning to multiply throughout Egypt, according to the promise God made to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. Pharaoh, the ruler of Egypt, eventually sees the people of Israel as too many and too mighty. He increasingly oppresses and the people grow weary, at which point we begin to see a central theme of the book of Exodus. God hears the cries of the people, He knows their agony and He has a plan of rescue.
