River Valley Church SOAP - Part 5Sample

The Israelites now arrive at the wilderness of Sinai, where Moses interacts with God on Mount Horeb. God explains to Moses that His purpose has not changed, but He delivered Israel out of Egypt to come to this place so they could worship and receive instruction from God. In preparation for worship, Israel needed to wash their clothes, and be prepared. Washing and cleanliness was a symbol of purification for people in this region and culture. The mountain itself had boundaries, and no person could go on the mountain except Moses, because the holy presence of God was displayed to everyone who came out of Egypt. Moses returned down the mountain with the commandments; these Ten Commandments teach us how to relate to God and others.
