The Neighbourhood as Told by MatthewSample

As a community we must wholeheartedly trust in God for all things. I don’t know about you, but I’ve found that putting all of my trust in myself and in others can at times lead to serious let down, heartbreak and frustration. All too often we put unrealistic expectations on ourselves and others, expectations that simply cannot be met. Humans are imperfect. People will let us down, and despite our best intentions, we will let people down too. 

But who knows that our God will never let us down? We can trust in Him wholeheartedly. He always has our best interests at heart, and we can trust Him knowing that He is the same yesterday, today, and forever and His plans for us are good. 

In Matthew 10, Jesus explains to His disciples that when they share the good news to the lost, they will encounter great opposition, and could even face arrest. In verse 19, Jesus goes on to assure them that they need not worry because the Holy Spirit is with them. 

When difficult circumstances arise it is often our knee jerk reaction to take the reigns and attempt to control the situation, rather than handing our worries over to God. It can be a challenge sometimes to take our hands off and trust in the Lord, but when we do, and we submit ourselves wholeheartedly to God, He will make our paths straight.

When we are faced with opposition, difficulties and trials, be encouraged and remember that Jesus will never leave us, nor forsake us. He is the solid rock on which we stand. He is our strength, our protection, our fortress and we can always trust in Him. 

Prayer: Dear Jesus, thank You that I can wholeheartedly put my trust in You. Thank You for never letting me down. Lord, help me to put aside control, and instead, give You access to every area in my life. God, I ask Your forgiveness for when I have let people down. Please help me to be more like You. In Jesus name, Amen.
