The Neighbourhood as Told by MatthewSample
Have you ever applied for a job only to be told your resume wasn’t extensive enough, you needed more experience or your interview was sub par, so the company chose a ‘better’ fit? Or maybe you have found yourself feeling unworthy, not good enough or rejected. Often, the world will only choose you, or consider you worthy once you prove yourself as being ‘good enough.’
God on the other hand knows every mistake, every shortcoming, every sin and yet He chose to pay the ultimate price for us, so we could have relationship with Him. When the world tells us to do more, be better and stand out, God says, ‘come to me as you are.’
In fact, the Bible says that all have fallen short of God’s glory. He knows we aren’t perfect, but we can be encouraged today that despite our failures, we never have to prove our worth to God or try to earn His approval. God desires to be in relationship with you right now, no matter where you’re at, or what you’re going through.
In Matthew 6, Jesus explains that although birds do not sow or reap or store away in barns, God feeds and provides for them. He poses the question, ‘are you not much more valuable than they?’ God loves you so much, that the Bible says He formed you in your mother’s womb and numbered the hairs on your head. We have done nothing to deserve this perfect love, but God has called us to a holy life, and has chosen us to be His people and His special possession.
Young Adults, because of the ultimate sacrifice that was paid for us on the cross, we do not need to strive to prove our worth to God. You are special to God, you are loved by God, and you are chosen by God, and for that, He deserves all our praise.
Prayer: Dear God, thank You for sending Your son to die on the cross for me. Thank You for desiring a relationship with me, despite all of my shortcomings. Lord, help me to desire You more and more, because You deserve all of my heart. In Jesus name, Amen.
