Walking With Jesus Sample

In 1998 there was a movie called Six Days and Seven Nights that featured Harrison Ford. It’s an action/comedy/survival movie where they have a crash landing on a deserted South Seas island. Six days and seven nights seems like a long time on a deserted island. Imagine 40 days and 40 nights in the wilderness, fasting, AND being tempted by the devil. This is what Jesus was facing.
Jesus is faced with three temptations. These temptations are described as lust of the flesh, the pride of life, and the lust of the eyes. Today we’ll read how Jesus is tempted by the lust of the flesh. We all have times in our lives where the lust of the flesh tempts us. Lust of the flesh says “I want it.” Jesus shows us how he overcame this temptation. Instead of giving in to temptation, He quoted Scripture and counted on the power of God. Instead of saying “I want it” let’s instead say “I want God.”
Today’s Scripture:: Matthew 4:1-4
Pray. Ask God to reveal to you His truths as you read His Word. Don’t skip this important step.
Read: As you read ask the “5 W’s and an H” questions: Who? What? When? Where? Why? How?
Daily Challenge: Anytime you are tempted today to pursue the lust of the flesh, comfort over calling, quote the words of Jesus. “Man shall not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.”
