Walking With Jesus Sample

Today we’ll read how Jesus is tempted by the pride of life. Pride says things like “I’m important or “I can handle it” or “I don’t need any help.” When I think about my life, this is an area I’d like to get better at. So often I count on my own strength instead of God’s power. I can try and prove my worth instead of pointing to the one who is truly worthy.
In the passage we’ll read today, satan tries to tempt Jesus to throw himself from the roof of the Temple to prove He was the Messiah. This would have been an ostentatious display that was not Jesus’ character or the will of His Father. Jesus didn’t need to prove anything.
When tempted with the pride of life let’s replace “I can handle it” with “I can’t handle anything without God.” Let’s replace “I’m important” with “More of Jesus and less of me.”
Today’s Scripture: Matthew 4:1-7
Pray: Ask God to reveal to you His truths as you read His Word. Don’t skip this important step.
Read: As you read ask the “5 W’s and an H” questions: Who? What? When? Where? Why? How?
Daily Challenge: What’s an area in your life where you’ve let pride sneak in? When you are tempted, say, “More of you Jesus, and less of me.”
