Pursue The Path

To most modern day Christians, this story is a familiar one. We hear about it in church services, Christmas carols, nativity scenes and even in movies. The story of the Magi – wise men, travelling from the east to see a baby boy who was born King of the Jews. We can safely assume that these men were learned, influential and wealthy. Their pursuit of knowledge, and their determination and confidence lead them on a journey to Bethlehem – the birth place of Jesus.

On this road, they encountered man’s corruption and hunger for power, cosmic movements and divine intervention. They encountered God’s immeasurable love towards His people in the most unexpected form of a baby boy. It is more than likely that their generosity made a way for Joseph and Mary to escape Herod’s evil plan and flee to Egypt. The pursuit of their passion intersected with the greatest love story ever told.

During this Christmas period, may I encourage you to pursue the path that God has called you to. A road that will only draw you toward Jesus. It may seem long and treacherous at times; however, it leads to the fulfilment of promise over your life. Count the cost, take the risks, push the boundaries and make the changes you need to be on your God-given path. Choose to make this season a significant milestone in the rest of your journey.
