The Road to ChristmasSample
Good News
Do you sometimes feel like the life of faith can feel like failure and disappointment? If there’s a gold-standard out there, do you feel like you could never measure up? Suddenly the mantra to ‘Do what Jesus would do’ becomes a rod for your back rather than an invitation to live a life to the fullest.
I want to share some good news with you – did you know that we tend to judge others on their actions, but we tend to judge ourselves on our intentions? The good news isn’t to face your day with no intent; quite the opposite. Allow the Holy Spirit to drag you from the prison cell of your self-focused mind, drop the obsession with self-improvement, and turn outwards.
The good news is that a kind word and a smile are worth their weight in gold, and that God wants you to be a part of a movement of love and kindness, of bringing the kingdom to earth, as it is in heaven.
God chooses the most unlikely people from the most unlikely places. Even Jesus was born into a poor family, not a palace. The sacrifice at the temple was reserved for the poorest families, and from this act of obedience the world was changed. Your small acts of obedience allow something new to be born into our world. Could there be any better news than that?

About this Plan
Over the course of 10 days, we will consider the events in the arrival of our Saviour. How the word became flesh, the virgin teenager who became the mother of our Saviour King, her husband’s wrestle with heart and mind, the birth of their son, the one who would rescue us all, the prophesies of Anna and Simeon, the heartbreak of a nation and the Saviour King becoming a refugee.
