A Day at the MuseumSample

Bottom Line: Following God makes us stand out.
Luke 4:22-30 demonstrates the polarizing responses people had towards Jesus. Everyone that Jesus interacted with seemed to feel very strongly about Him, either positively or negatively. The reality is as we try to live like Jesus, we will also face people who come to love us and those who treat us poorly.
Throughout scripture Jesus refers to Himself as the “Light of the world” and it can be helpful to understand his polarizing nature through the illustration of a flashlight in a dark room. Sitting in a dark room, some people will grow so accustomed to the dark that they begin to prefer it. To these people, the light seems harsh. They are then faced with the choice of finding delight in the light and what it brings or staying in the dark because they don’t want to see the things that it shows and it can make their eyes uncomfortable. As a Christ-follower, you need to let the light of Jesus shine through your life so that other people can see and accept the light of Jesus.
