DAY 24 OF 31

Do you know about the ark of the covenant, also known as the ark of God? It symbolizes a place where God reigns. Where the ark of God is, there’s blessing, joy, victory, and His presence.

When the ark of God was stolen by the Philistines, the Israelites became downcast. When it was finally returned, David rejoiced as he was bringing it back to Jerusalem.

The full story is written in 2 Samuel 6:1-23. You can read it later. Today, let me bring your attention to verse 12 which we just read. Before David finally brought the ark of God back to Jerusalem, the ark was placed in the household of Obed-Edom. And while the ark was there, the Lord blessed him tremendously. But what does this story have to do with us today?

The Bible says that we are His Temple, where God dwells and He never leaves us. If that’s the case, aren’t we supposed to be the bearer of blessings wherever we are? Just like the household of Obed-Edom was blessed because of the ark of God, everyone around us should be blessed when they are with us. The grieving should be comforted, the weak should be strengthened, the hopeless should find hope, and the hurt should be restored.

That’s what it means to be God’s agents of change.

Devotion for Parents
Are you an agent of change wherever God puts you? Do the people around you blessed and do they feel joy in your presence?

Devotion for Kids
Have you been a source of joy and comfort wherever you are? Have you been a good friend whose presence is always awaited by others?

Family Devotion Time
Think of a way, as a family, that you can bring a change in your social circle. It may be around the neighborhood, in church, in your community, or your extended family, etc. Then do it together.
