Ashes to Amethyst: Unearthing the Jewel WithinSample

When it comes to parenting, God is the ultimate good Father. He isn't a deadbeat dad or missing in action like some earthly fathers. Even the most perfect father on earth couldn't measure up to God's love for us, although we are called to reflect God's love in our relationships.

Today, I encourage you to meditate on and embrace your identity as a beloved child of God. You are cherished and known by the Creator of the universe. When you truly rest in the knowledge that you are deeply loved, it doesn't matter about your past. God sees you where you are in this moment, right now. He is concerned about everything that concerns you because you are a reflection of Him. You're made in his image. Even if you aren't doing everything perfectly or don't feel worthy of His love, it is still yours for the taking. The scripture says that He lavishes His love on us. To be lavish means to go over the top, to give something generously and extravagantly. God broke the bank when it comes to how much He loves us by giving His son Jesus in exchange for our lives. The result is called salvation, a gift we receive when we accept Christ's sacrifice on the cross for our sins. Everything about your relationship with God begins and ends with this fact. It is a foundation we can build our lives upon that is steady and firm. Anything else we attempt to do outside this relationship will happen in our strength. Eventually, our strength will run out. The stress and pressure of life will cause us to break.

Take a moment to breathe in God's love, reaffirm your salvation, breathe out any doubt, and embrace your God-given identity as a Son or Daughter of the Most High.

Heavenly Father, I am grateful for Your reckless love. Help me remember that I am Your beloved child, and my worth is rooted in Your affection for me. I can’t earn Your love, but I can embrace it with a grateful heart. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
