Did you know that the events of Jesus’ birth and life were spoken of in detail throughout the Old Testament? This was hundreds of years BEFORE he was born! How could it be so clearly talking about events that would only happen in the future?

When we look back from our side of the events, we can see that what is written there happened. Verses like Isaiah 7:14 (A child would be born of a virgin and called Immanuel, or Jesus), Micah 5:2 (He would be born in Bethlehem), Jeremiah 31:15 (A great sorrow for the loss of children caused by king Herod), Hosea 11:1 (He would come from Egypt… remember where Joseph took Mary and Jesus after the wise men visited?!)

How do we know that Jesus was God’s plan from the beginning? We know because we believe God’s Word, the Bible, and in the Bible, we read passages that are known as prophecies. A prophet was a person who was chosen by God to be His spokesperson to others, often telling them things that would happen in the future. We read just a few of the prophesies in the Old Testament that are about Jesus. These were written hundreds of years before Jesus was born but are so accurate in their detail that there is little doubt that they are about Jesus.
